A foundation that holds

The book is called Live on Purpose, and people sometimes ask me what that really means. It's simpler than it sounds. To live the purposeful life is to be operating in the plan God has for your life — and to build that life on a foundation that will actually hold when the weather turns.

When we don't live on purpose, we leave the door open to the wrong path — drifting a little further from where we were meant to be, one small compromise at a time. But when we build on the foundation of Christ — our family, our home, our relationships, the way we speak to one another, our very identity — we get something the storm can't take: confident trust, real faith, good morals, and integrity.

Build while the sun is out

You don't lay a foundation in the middle of a flood — you lay it beforehand, in the ordinary days, when nothing seems urgent. That's the quiet work of a purposeful life: choosing the right words, keeping your promises, tending your family and your faith when no one is watching. Then, when the hard season comes — and it comes for everyone — the house stands.
